More than 30 employees from GAIL (India) Limited came together at The Art of Living International Centre, Bengaluru, for an immersive wellbeing experience designed to support physical vitality, mental clarity and greater balance in everyday life.

Facilitated by the Art of Living team, the programme brought together yoga, SKY Kriya, practical knowledge and simple mind-management tools that participants could carry beyond the programme and into their professional and personal lives.

Creating Space for Wellbeing

In a demanding work environment, wellbeing is not simply about taking time off. It is also about developing the inner resources to handle responsibilities, pressure and change with greater awareness.

The programme introduced participants to practical approaches that can be incorporated into daily life — helping create a healthier relationship between the body, breath and mind.

Through yoga practices, participants explored the connection between physical movement, flexibility, strength and overall wellbeing. The practices offered an opportunity to pause, reconnect with the body and bring greater awareness into everyday routines.

Experiencing SKY Kriya

A key component of the programme was SKY Kriya, a guided breathing and meditation practice.

Through breath-based practices, participants were introduced to a simple way of working with the mind and emotions. The practice offered a space to slow down, become more aware and experience greater calm and clarity.

The emphasis was not on adding another complicated routine to an already busy schedule, but on learning practical tools that can be integrated into everyday life.

Knowledge for Managing the Mind

Alongside the practices, the programme explored practical knowledge points for mind management.

Participants reflected on how the mind responds to stress, expectations and changing circumstances, and how greater awareness can influence the way we respond.

Simple insights around managing thoughts, emotions and reactions provided participants with perspectives that could be applied both at work and at home.

The central idea was simple: while we may not always be able to control external situations, developing awareness can change the way we experience and respond to them.

Beyond the Workplace

The experience at the Ashram offered participants more than a series of sessions. The surroundings provided an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday work and spend time in a more reflective environment.

The combination of yoga, breathing practices, meditation and knowledge created a holistic experience — bringing together physical wellbeing, mental clarity and inner balance.

For working professionals, such experiences can serve as a reminder that wellbeing is not separate from performance. Taking care of one's physical and mental wellbeing can support greater focus, resilience and balance in everyday life.

Taking the Practices Forward

The three-day programme concluded with participants taking away practical tools and insights that can continue beyond the programme.

From yoga and breathing practices to simple approaches for managing the mind, the experience offered ways to make wellbeing a more conscious part of daily life.

As organisations increasingly recognise the importance of employee wellbeing, initiatives that bring together practical tools, meaningful knowledge and experiential learning can help create healthier and more balanced workplaces.

The programme for GAIL employees at The Art of Living International Centre was an opportunity to pause, learn, practise and reconnect — with the simple understanding that wellbeing begins from within and can influence every aspect of life.
